Layer Effects

Select a supported model or object and open Layer Effects to change that layer without applying the same effect to the whole scene.

Layer Effects

In addition to global scene effects applied to the composited stage, individual models and objects support dedicated per-layer effects. Selecting a layer row and expanding its Layer Effects section reveals the effect list for that layer. Clicking Add Effect opens the Inventory filtered to effects compatible with that layer. Selecting an added effect displays its shader parameter sliders below the list, and you can choose Remove Effect from the row actions menu when needed.

Layer effects are computed prior to merging the layer into the main render pass, confining their visual impact to that specific object — such as applying Gaussian Blur to a background image while maintaining a crisp avatar, or color-correcting an individual prop.

Layer effects apply to all layer types on stage: Live2D and VRM avatars, 3D objects, and 2D images, videos, webpages, and text layers. Layers with active layer effects display an effects badge in the layer list.

Scene Effects and Layer Effects

Effects can be applied at two distinct pipeline levels using the same parameter controls:

  • Scene Effects: Operate on the composite frame across all layers — the global effect chain.
  • Layer Effects: Operate exclusively on an individual layer before it is blended into the scene.

Not all effects can be used at the layer level. Of the 24 available shader effects, 13 are supported as both scene and layer effects, and the rest are scene-only:

Scene-only effects either require scene depth buffer data, exist as physical 3D scene geometry, or are fundamentally designed to process the entire rendered frame.
