Flare

Flare lights the image as if a bright source sat just outside the frame: a coloured glow washes in from that edge, and the side facing away from it dims slightly. Optional animated rays stream out from the same point

It is a scene effect only — it acts on the whole frame and cannot be added to a single layer. See Scene Effects and Layer Effects

On a transparent stage the glow and rays also reach into the empty parts of the frame, so they still show over the desktop or an OBS scene

Glow Opacity0 – 11How strongly the soft glow blends with the image

Zero Intensity and Size do not switch the flare off — they leave its base glow, which the two sliders then brighten and widen. Glow Opacity is what fades the glow out

Angle places the light around the frame. At 0° it comes from above, and positive values move it clockwise — 90° from the right, ±180° from below

Blending Mode

Add puts the glow's light straight onto the image. Screen lightens more gently, so bright areas are less likely to clip. Color Dodge intensifies the image's own colours under the glow and leaves pure black untouched

Rays

Switching Rays on sends ribbons of light out from the same point as the glow. They sway and pulse continuously, with their own colour and strength:

Ray ColorHex#ffffffColour of the rays
Ray Size0 – 10Size of the rays
Ray Intensity0 – 10Brightness and density of the rays
Ray Opacity0 – 11How opaque the rays appear

Sun Rays are a few narrow ribbons, Shine Rays more and wider ones, and God Rays the broadest and densest. As with the glow, zero Ray Size and Ray Intensity keep each type's own size and brightness rather than hiding the rays

The rays do not depend on the glow: they stay when Glow Opacity is 0, so you can use rays on their own

Processing Order

Flare runs after blur, so blur does not soften the flare, and before pixelate and Subspace Glitch™, which warp it along with the rest of the frame
