A soft-focus haze over the frame. It uses the same mip pyramid as bloom, but composites differently: bloom adds, diffusion screens, so highlights halo outward instead of climbing to flat white

Threshold
Bloom defaults to 0.8, which catches only real highlights. Diffusion defaults to 0.35, which pulls the midtones in — so the softening covers a wider tonal range
The threshold also decides how hard the veil arrives. It is a soft knee, ramping in between the threshold and twice the threshold, so a lower value mists in earlier and more gradually, while a higher one leaves only the highlights carrying it
Using It With Bloom
Both can run at once, and diffusion runs after bloom — so what it hazes is a frame that already has haloes on it. Bloom makes bright things glow, diffusion makes the whole image soft. For a softer cinematic look, use both with reduced intensity
For softening without glow, turn bloom off and run diffusion alone. For clean, crisp highlights, keep bloom only — diffusion also reduces image sharpness
On a Transparent Window
Like bloom, diffusion touches rgb and leaves alpha alone. On a transparent stage the veil appears only over the avatar's own coverage; it does not bleed out onto your desktop
Processing Order
Diffusion runs after bloom and before the LUT, so the veil grades with the image rather than floating on top of the finished frame
