VRM Idle

Applies toVRM

Open a VRM avatar’s Idle section to choose a looping clip and configure its behavior when tracking is lost.

Idle Behavior

Persona automatically applies procedural idle behavior upon loading a VRM to avoid rigid T-pose states:

  • Idle Animation — looping skeletal animation clip configured per model
  • Automatic Blinking — randomized eye blinks occurring every 2–6 seconds
  • Natural Breathing — subtle procedural respiration driving chest and spine bones
  • Spring Bones — real-time secondary physics for hair and clothing, using the model's native spring bone configuration

The Idle Animation selector is located in the model's Idle section. Clicking Choose Clip… opens the Inventory filtered to the Animations category, featuring nine dedicated idle loops:

Standing · Hands Behind Back · Hand on Hip · Folded Arms · Leaning · Talking · Sitting · Dance · Waiting

Bundled motion clips and user-imported or recorded clips can also be designated as idle animations. Dedicated idle loops cycle seamlessly, whereas standard animation clips may exhibit minor seam jumps when looping.

Because idle configurations are stored per avatar instance, multiple avatars in the same scene can maintain distinct resting poses.

When Tracking Is Lost

The Idle section also provides When Tracking Is Lost settings to govern parameters when face tracking signals drop: Keep Last Pose (default) freezes tracking inputs at the last valid frame until tracking resumes; Return to Idle smoothly interpolates to the idle pose over approximately 0.3 seconds and transitions back when tracking returns.

Live2D models also support assigning a fallback motion during signal loss; VRM configurations currently do not include this parameter.
