Persona

Storage

Open Settings → Storage to find your configuration folder and diagnostic logs.

Storage

Global application settings, scene layouts, and API authentication credentials reside in a unified directory at ~/.laplace/persona. Clicking Open Folder reveals this path in the native desktop file manager.

Backing up, migrating, or restoring configuration state is accomplished by copying or replacing this directory. Always quit Persona prior to restoring files, as an active instance flushes internal memory state back to disk on shutdown, overwriting freshly placed data.

FileDescription
settings.jsonGlobal application preferences, asset path allowlists, and registered local plugins
scenes.jsonComplete hierarchy and layer configuration for all scenes
credentials.jsonAPI keys authentication tokens (restricted user access)
plugin-storage.jsonKey-value records stored by plugins over the API
captures/Saved photos (PNG) and video recordings (MP4/WebM) from Studio Mode
logs/Local runtime diagnostic logs

Both settings.json and scenes.json link directly to online JSON Schemas (settings and scenes), facilitating real-time schema validation and autocompletion in editors such as VS Code.

Clicking Open Logs reveals the logs/ subfolder. Persona writes runtime warnings and errors to main.log automatically without manual intervention. This file never leaves your machine (isolated from Send Bug Reports telemetry). It may include personal details, so share it only when a developer asks, and never post it publicly. Upon reaching 2 MB, the log file rotates into a timestamped archive, retaining the five most recent generations.
