Apple Health

Apple Health keeps one person's record: yours. That's why only one profile can sync to Apple Health—the one that represents you. If you only track others, you don't need to choose a profile, and nothing is written to Apple Health.

Choosing Your Profile

  1. In Settings, tap Apple Health, then under Your Profile, choose the profile that represents you, or choose None.
  2. The first time you choose a profile, iOS shows the Health permission sheet, which asks only to write Menstruation data. The app never asks to read Health data.

If you declined access earlier, go to Settings → Privacy & Security → Health → LAPLACE Cycles and turn on Menstruation. Health access isn't on LAPLACE Cycles' own page in Settings.

What Syncs

ItemDescription
Logged PeriodsEvery logged day, with the first day of each period marked
PredictionsEstimated periods and ovulation windows stay in LAPLACE Cycles
Other ProfilesOnly the profile you choose goes to Apple Health

Each logged day becomes a menstrual flow record in Apple Health, from midnight to midnight in the time zone it was logged in. Back-to-back entries count as one period. Periods logged in Apple Health or by other apps aren't changed: the app only touches data it wrote itself, which carries the profile's identifier.

Multiple Devices

  • Your choice syncs with your profiles through iCloud, because Apple Health is the same person's record on all your devices. If two devices change it at the same time, the latest choice wins
  • Each device needs its own permission. After you choose a profile on another device, this device's screen shows Allow Access
  • Apple Health updates when you open the app or return to it, when you edit a period, or when the choice changes on another device

Switching, Stopping, and Deleting

  • Switching profiles: If Apple Health already has the previous profile's periods, the app first asks whether to sync the new profile instead, then removes the old profile's periods before adding the new one's. The old profile's history stays in the app, so switching back restores it
  • Stopping sync: Choosing None asks whether to Keep in Apple Health or Remove from Apple Health. Either way, the history stays in LAPLACE Cycles
  • Deleting the chosen profile: Its periods are also removed from Apple Health, and the app tells you before deleting. If this device doesn't have Health access at that moment, the removal happens once access returns
  • Leftover periods: Periods written by an earlier install, or kept when you stopped syncing, stay in Apple Health until you remove them on this screen or choose a profile (which asks before replacing them). The app never removes them just because no profile is chosen, since on a new device your profiles may not have finished syncing yet

Deleting the app doesn't remove the periods it wrote to Apple Health; you can delete them yourself in Apple Health. Apple Health isn't available on a Mac, so this setting isn't shown there.
