Subspace Shop sets and discloses the list price of each first-party item under its Transparent Pricing Policy for VTuber Merchandise (TPPVM), according to the following rules:
Price basis:
Pricein this policy is the item list price calculated by the formulas before discounts. It isn't the final checkout total. Applicable discounts, taxes, and supplier shipping are calculated separately at checkout; the amount shown before order submission is the amount payable.
Original Merchandise
Original merchandise from this site is priced to target a 40% material gross margin, then rounded up
Margin basis: Here, 40% means
(item list price - material cost) / item list price. It excludes payment processing fees, design costs, platform subscriptions, operations, after-sales service, and other costs. It isn't the site's actual net profit margin; rounding up can make the resulting material gross margin slightly higher than 40%.
Examples
- A badge with a ¥1.63 material cost is priced at 1.63/(1 - 40%) = 2.717 and rounded up to a ¥3 list price; tax and supplier shipping are calculated separately
- A T-shirt with a ¥70 material cost is priced at 70/(1 - 40%) = 116.667 and rounded up to a ¥117 list price; tax and supplier shipping are calculated separately

Commissioned Merchandise
Commissioned merchandise from this site is priced at the material cost plus the commission cost allocated across 100 units, then rounded up
Examples
- A T-shirt with a ¥70 material cost and a ¥1000 commission cost is priced at 70 + 1000/100 = 80 and rounded up to a ¥80 list price; tax and supplier shipping are calculated separately
- A poster with a ¥1.97 material cost and a ¥2500 commission cost is priced at 1.97 + 2500/100 = 26.97 and rounded up to a ¥27 list price; tax and supplier shipping are calculated separately
100-unit assumption: The 100-unit figure is only a pricing assumption used to allocate the fixed commission cost. If payment processing fees, platform subscriptions, discounts, refunds, losses, operations, after-sales service, and other costs are ignored, the model recovers the material and commission costs after 100 units. The actual break-even point varies with payment method and order contents, and this model doesn't guarantee break-even or profitability after 100 units.

Additional Notes
Platform limitations mean every list price on this site is converted from a USD base currency, so large exchange-rate swings affect an item's list price
Special items and discounted items are not subject to the formulas above
