Conversations and Messages

LAPLACE Comet centers every DM on the conversation list. Click any conversation to open its chat view; messages are sent and received through bilibili's official APIs

Conversation List

Three views sit at the top of the conversation list:

ViewDescription
AllEvery conversation
UnreadOnly conversations with unread messages
ReadOnly conversations already read

Click the search icon to find a conversation by username or message content

The conversation list loads the most recent batch by default. Scrolling to the bottom of the list triggers automatic loading, or click the load button at the bottom to fetch more history manually

Refresh

Click the refresh button at the top of the list to re-fetch the conversation list immediately. While the real-time WebSocket connection is active, the list updates itself as new messages arrive, so manual refreshing is rarely needed

Do Not Disturb

With Do Not Disturb on for a single conversation, new messages from that contact no longer trigger desktop notifications or badge counts:

  • Open the conversation and click the Do Not Disturb button on the right of the chat title bar to toggle it
  • While it is on, the button icon switches to a muted style

Pinning Conversations

Keep frequently used conversations at the top of the list:

  • Open the conversation and click the Pin button on the right of the chat title bar
  • Pinned conversations appear above everything else; click again to unpin

Sending Messages

Sending Text

  • Type into the input box at the bottom of the chat
  • Press Enter to send and Shift+Enter for a line break
  • A single message is capped at 1000 characters; a character count appears at the lower right of the input box as you near the limit

Sending Images

Images can be added in three ways:

  • Click the image button: click the image icon on the left of the input box and pick an image in the file picker
  • Drag into the chat area: drag an image file straight into the chat message area
  • Paste: after taking a screenshot, press command/Ctrl + V inside the app to paste the image from the clipboard

Selecting an image opens a preview window showing its file name, size, and dimensions; click Send to confirm and upload it

Supported formats: JPEG, PNG, GIF, WebP, up to 20 MB per image

Message Recall

A message you have already sent can be recalled from the context menu:

  • Hover over the message bubble and right-click (or click the message menu button) to open the actions menu
  • Choose Recall; once it succeeds, the message shows as recalled in the conversation

Message Types

LAPLACE Comet renders the following message content:

TypeDescription
TextPlain text, with links detected automatically
ImageDisplayed inline in the message bubble
EmoteRenders bilibili emote packs
Recalled messageShows a recalled notice

The message source (iOS / Android / web / auto-reply, and so on) is labeled on the message bubble

Notes

  • Both text and image messages go out through bilibili's official APIs and are subject to the recipient's privacy settings
  • Some accounts may refuse DMs from strangers under their security policy, and sending to one returns an error
